01•52 •  Hello, my name is Doug and I'm a technology junkie.

...It started back in the early 1980's with the Commodore 64 and continues today.

I don't think this episode about hi-tech factories in China will change my life, but it will make me more aware of the human cost of getting said technology into my home.

I start my Project 52 Weeks for This American Life • Theme of the Week with an ongoing series of self portraits in public restroom mirrors.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

This American Life • Theme of the Week • MoPho Project 52 Weeks

Creating 52 new images in 2012 for each week's TAL theme with the device I listen to the episodes on, Motorola Droid 3.

Each image for this project will be shot in 2012 and processed in phone with installed Apps. I then take it into Lightroom to add tags, title, caption and my watermark. So in essence each photo will be "straight out of camera phone" with no external image processing

ABOUT THIS WEEK'S TAL EPISODE:

#454: Mr. Daisey and the Apple Factory

Originally aired 01.06.2012

"Mike Daisey was a self-described "worshipper in the cult of Mac." Then he saw some photos from a new iPhone, taken by workers at the factory where it was made. Mike wondered: Who makes all my crap? He traveled to China to find out."

"Act One. Mister Daisey Goes to China.
Mike Daisey performs an excerpt that was adapted for radio from his one-man show "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs." A lifelong Apple superfan, Daisey sees some photos online from the inside of a factory that makes iPhones, starts to wonder about the people working there, and flies to China to meet them. His show restarts a run at New York's Public Theater later this month."
